Client: Self-Promotion
Project: Idly drawing some monsters one day on my iPad I decided to work one of them up in multiple medias to loosen myself off and try new things. Partly inspired by reading Martin Gayford & David Hockney's Book 'Spring Cannot Be Cancelled' where Hockney talks about painting the same subject over and over again.
So far I've done two and both on the iPad in Procreate. I'd never used Procreate for anything other than storyboards, sketching ideas and occasional animation. The first one is just exploring the pens, and shading in colour. The second one I wanted to use the iPad and recreate drawing in pencil and shading. I've about 8 more to go ranging from oil paint, to watercolour, mixed media (photography, flat texture, felt tip), actual pencil, 3D, and whatever else I can think of. I'm also going to try various animation techniques I haven't properly tried out yet. So rubberhose, Duik and any other platform that's out there. And also cel too of course. More to follow!
